Michael Kohls was born in Berlin in 1983 and studied photography at the University of Applied Sciences in Bielefeld and the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. During his studies in Bielefeld, he was a member and resident of the Artists Unlimited association and artists’ house. In his independent projects, he uses photography and moving images to explore the visibility and invisibility of Jewish life and the diversity of Jewish identities in Germany. He lives in Hamburg.
